Pioneer Telephone is a privately held long-distance service provider founded in 1989 and headquartered in Portland, Maine. Pioneer works with residential and business customers on long distance plans, toll free numbers, and phone cards.
Pioneer, which uses fiber optic technology, has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, USNEWS.com, and Newsday.

Pioneer will add as many toll free numbers as the customers wants to any account. There is a .99 cent per month fee for each toll free number. Incoming calls to toll free numbers (accessed through a toll free service provider) on a Pioneer Telephone account are billed at the basic Pioneer rate plan applicable to all numbers. These per-minute rates vary based on where the call originated, time of day and day of the week.

If the toll free number is the customer’s only Pioneer account, fees may be higher than the standard rates. The toll free ring-to-number can be changed for no additional fee as often as the customer wants to re-assign the call number. Pioneer offers toll free cellular and international service at additional rates.
