Founded in 1998, RingCentral is based in Redwood City, California and services 40,000 businesses. Vlad Vendrow, former director at Motorola, is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer. Vlad Shmunis, chairman of the Board and CEO, founded Ring Zero Systems, Inc. in 1991. Ring Zero was later acquired by Motorola.

RingCentral, which services primarily small and medium sized companies, offers toll free and local phone numbers and sets fees based on the customer’s selected features.

Toll free features offered by RingCentral include caller id, voicemail, virtual PBX, e-mail faxes, call forwarding, dial by name directory, call screening, fax services, call transfer, professionally recorded greetings, message alerts, call logs, on-hold music, 24-hour support, and their newest feature—DigitalLine which transports calls through VoIP technology.

RingCentral offers four plans ranging from $9.99 to $99.99. Each plan includes a variety of features and limited monthly minutes. Additional minutes cost between 3.9 cents and 6.7 cents depending on the plan. Digitaline services cost additional monthly fees.

RingCentral does not charge set-up fees or require contracts. Vanity numbers cost a one-time fee of $30 for processing and activation. RingCentral does not offer toll free international.
