There have been lots of instances where people want a particular toll free number that has not been re-released back in to the system. Some times they can find out the day of release but then have to tale a day off to sit around and constantly ask if it’s ready yet. Ever since we heard last week that there appears to have been a formal recommendation to the FCC f the release of the new 855 toll free area code numbers, there has been some information circulating that conflicts with other info making the rounds. But no matter the details, it is time for consumers to learn how to obtain their own custom 955 number as soon as the pool becomes available. Potential subscribers should contact a reputable toll free service provider and learn how to prepare to get a new custom 855 toll free phone number.

If you have a toll free number that you are not using, you may soon be asked to give that number up for someone who may get more use out of it. Of course, many people don’t want to do this and are trying to urge the government to release new area codes instead. What would you vote for?

Widespread concerns about the dwindling supply of toll free numbers may not be addressed anytime soon. According to sources at the 800 Service Management System (SMS/800) the reserved 855 pre-fix, intended to restore stocks of toll free numbers, may not be released by the Federal Communications Commission for several years. In fact, industry insiders say the release of 855 may be put off until 2011.
