Ever heard of the bill in California called the “California SB 1613”? Here’s a few excerpts and a place to get the full details – it’s worth looking in to:
SECTION 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as the
California Wireless Telephone Automobile Safety Act of 2006.
SEC. 2. The Legislature finds and declares all of the following:
(a) There are significant safety benefits associated with the
availability of wireless communication technologies, including, but
not limited to, providing assistance that helps save lives and
minimizes property damage.
(b) On a daily basis, California drivers make thousands of
wireless telephone emergency 911 calls.
(c) The availability of wireless telephones in motor vehicles
allows motorists to report accidents, fires, naturally occurring
life-threatening situations, including, but not limited to, rock
slides and fallen trees, other dangerous road conditions, road rage,
dangerous driving, criminal behavior, including drunk driving, and
stranded motorist situations.

According to Digicel, its revenue stream is being adversely affected because, along with other operators, it is unable to sell toll free services to corporate customers. Digicel complained that LIME has a monopoly in that segment of the market and corporate customers are “forced to use C&W/LIME’s toll free service and accept whatever prices and service standards C&W/LIME chooses”. New Delhi, India – MTNL Launches 3G Services in New Delhi, MTNL 3G Launch, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited third Generation
The state owned telecom operator, MTNL is going to offer 3G phone services. MTNL will offer the 3G high-speed data mobile phone free services initially to its high-spending mobile customers for a period of two months on a trial basis.
The 3G service of MTNL is expected to be launched by Dr Manmohan Singh, during the Indian Telecom Summit in New Delhi.
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited/MTNL will launch the 3G service in Delhi followed by Mumbai in two months. The network for roll out of 3G services in Delhi is not fully complete yet that is the reason why the 3rd generation service will be restricted initially to the New Delhi Municipal Corporation/NDMC area and National Capital Region of Gurgaon.
