Any United States citizen eligible for a $250 federal stimulus check who did not receive it by now is advised to call the Social Security Administration’s toll-free number, (800) 772-1213, or contact the local office. The Department of Treasury was to send payments to all eligible Social Security and Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries immediately.

Bills are pending in the House and Senate that would provide credit cards with severe restrictions to help some people restore their credit ratings, ravaged in the recent economy. The bills would require the credit card companies to provide toll free numbers to offer financial management and credit counseling.

The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) has launched a toll free number 1-888-429-5723 aimed at helping farmers obtain valuable agricultural information without being concerned about the cost. The toll free line will not only help to reduce farmers’ communication expenses, but will allow for quick access to credible technical information related to their operations. Another way toll free helps society and brings information to a community.

The Indiana Health Department set up a toll-free line to help confused consumers identify peanut products now recalled for possible salmonella exposure. The list is so big it would take 400 pages if you tried to print it all out.
