Maryland Travel Made Easier With 855 Numbers

Know Before You Go is the theme of the new Maryland 511 traveler information system now available throughout the state. It offers travel information to help motorists before they go to major events, cross-state travel and even daily commutes. In addition to dialing “511” in Maryland, residents may call toll free 1-855-GOMD511 or 1-855-466-3511. The three-digit “511” number was designated by the Federal Communications Commission as the national telephone number for traveler information.

The 855 Numbers Looming Large

The 855 toll free telephone numbers are a major commodity and are being used by hundreds of thousands of business owners, professionals, government agencies, utility companies and more. We have no official word yet on the timeline for the release of the next batch of toll free number area codes–the 844 numbers–but we expect this to be within the next year or so. In the meantime, there are plenty of custom 855 numbers left in play.

Four Month Update–855 Big Success

We are about four months into the status of the new 855 toll free phone numbers and all indications that they are extremely popular. Recognition of these numbers as toll free tales time, but consumers are already learning that the 855 numbers work the same as the previous toll free series–800, 888, 877, 866. With the success of the 855 numbers, it is a given that the 844 numbers will be released before we know it. And they will be needed. Supplies of 855 are already dropping.

855 Talk Continues

Our blog post from yesterday is creating a good deal of discussion. Continued speculation that the 855 toll free numbers could become available within the next couple of months is rampant. As we said yesterday, when we hear something definitive we will immediately pass it along.
