ALL Businesses Need a Toll Free Number

An older study indicated that businesses with 20% or more of their clients out of state needed to get a toll free number. The numbers have rapidly changed since then because of growing internet use and the ability to gain a client and ship products. Many small and start up companies are actually getting repeat business by having a website and even having vacationers request their products via phone – this is big!

As Month Ends, Still Waiting on 855

Still waiting for news on the release of the 855 toll free area code phone numbers. We don’t expect a release tomorrow on the holiday but last we month as you recall we did hear rumors that the new collection of toll free numbers would soon be allowed for use. We also received a tip that there is “testing” of the yet-to-be-released 855 toll free telephone numbers. We didn’t get any specifics on what type of testing is being done on these area code numbers. The new 855 numbers would provide millions of opportunities for subscribers to get new custom toll free phone number for their business or personal use.

Credit Counseling With Toll Free

This week we have noticed that many credit companies are advertising a “brand new service”–a toll free phone number for consumer to call with credit questions and for counseling. Many of the ads seem to suggest that this is a new service prompted by the credit companies. But remember our post from several weeks ago that informed our readers that this new service is in fact mandated by law? It is true, by law now all credit agencies must provide their customers with a toll free phone number to provide credit counseling and advice on paying down debt. Consumers, by law, will not pay for this call. It must be a toll free connection, paid for by the credit companies. Look on your next statement or on the credit company website for the number.
