Reports are rampant that the new 855 toll free phone numbers are quickly being secured by businesses, charities and for personal use nationwide since their release last week. Service providers are reporting high volume of interest in the new 855 phone numbers. The best combinations will indeed go fast. FCC Monitoring 855 Reservations

The FCC has released data indicating that it will be using new computer technology to monitor the RESPORG activity for new 855 number reservations.

Some of the data the FCC will be analyzing is the Quanity of 855 numbers registered each day and the Length of time before each number is put into an Active status. The FCC has also commissioned at least one private company to compare, monitor, and report calling traffic on ALL newly registered 855 toll free numbers until June 18th of 2011.

SMS/800 is continuing planning and testing to assure that the SMS/800 will be ready to support the planned opening. We will continue to provide additional information as the planning proceeds.

Consumers Eagerly Anticipating Release of 855 Area Code

There have been shortages of good toll free numbers in the past. Remember, that to overcome shortages of 1-800 numbers, the 888 and 877 numbers were introduced in 1996 and 1998 respectively.
