Following the emergence of a black market for valuable toll free numbers, including catchy vanity numbers, sources say federal authorities are cracking down on the illegal sales of 800 numbers.
Insiders say to avoid being caught in an undercover investigation and facing hefty fines from the Federal Communications Commission, anyone interested in obtaining an 800 number should deal with reputable service providers such as Qwest, or AT&T.

Call identifying information means dialing or signaling information that identifies the origin, direction, destination, or termination of each communication generated or received by a subscriber by means of any equipment, facility, or service of a telecommunications carrier. But the choice numbers are going quickly so once again the supply is diminishing. With at least a year to wait for the new 844 numbers, the chance is now to get a premium 855 toll free number. Economic Indicators released this week suggest better retail holiday shopping during the 2010 holiday season. Experts predict that overall spending will jump 2.3 percent and online shopping with increase by a whopping 16 percent! That translates to billions in spending.
