A member of the Task Force recounted an anecdote the other day: He was dealing with the company that made a new product he recently purchased, There was a small problem or issue with the product. He was on the phone with the company representative, and on hold, for more than twenty minutes working out the matter. He was more than a little pleased that the company had a toll free phone number or else he would have paid for a 20-minute out-of-state phone call. In fact, he said he probably would not have called them at all, perhaps just returned the product to the store, if they had not included a toll free phone number on the package. There is no doubt that toll free helps customer service.
